OIL CHANGES IN LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO — DONE RIGHT, DONE FAST

The Simplest Way To Protect Your Engine

An oil change is the single most important—and most affordable—thing you can do to keep your engine running strong for the long haul. At Advance Transmissions & Complete Auto Care, your oil change is handled by the same ASE-certified technicians who rebuild transmissions all day long. That means the quick service you came in for is backed by shop-level expertise most quick-lube chains simply can’t match. We proudly serve drivers in Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, Wentzville, St. Peters, St. Charles, and the surrounding communities.

Why Regular Oil Changes Matter

Motor oil is your engine’s lifeblood. It lubricates hundreds of moving parts, carries away heat, and traps the microscopic grit and combustion byproducts that would otherwise grind your engine down from the inside. Over time that oil breaks down and loads up with contaminants—and dirty, degraded oil is one of the leading causes of premature engine wear and costly repairs.

Staying on top of your oil changes protects your warranty, preserves fuel economy, and—because we inspect as we go—lets us catch small problems while they’re still small. It’s the cheapest insurance policy your car will ever have.

What’s Included In Every Oil Change

Our oil change is never just a drain-and-fill. With every service we perform:

  • Drain the old oil and replace it with the grade your manufacturer specifies
  • Install a new, high-quality oil filter
  • Top off essential fluids—washer, coolant, power steering, and more
  • Check tire pressure and set to spec
  • Perform a complimentary multi-point inspection of belts, hoses, battery, and brakes
  • Reset your oil-life monitor and note your next service interval

Conventional, Synthetic Blend, or Full Synthetic?

Not every engine wants the same oil, and using the right one matters. Here’s the quick version:

  • Conventional — a budget-friendly choice for older engines and lower-mileage drivers with simple maintenance needs.
  • Synthetic blend — a middle ground offering better protection and longer intervals than conventional, at a modest step up in cost.
  • Full synthetic — the best protection available, especially for modern, turbocharged, and high-performance engines that run hotter and demand more. Many newer vehicles require it.

Not sure which your vehicle needs? We’ll check your owner’s manual and OEM specs and recommend exactly the right oil—no upselling, no guesswork.

How Often Should You Change Your Oil?

The old “every 3,000 miles” rule is largely a thing of the past. Most modern vehicles run comfortably on 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes—and many full-synthetic applications go further. The honest answer is that it depends on your vehicle, your oil type, and how you drive: frequent short trips, towing, and extreme heat all shorten the interval. When in doubt, your owner’s manual is the final word, and we’re always happy to set a schedule that fits how you actually drive.

An oil change is also the perfect time to think ahead. Ask us about a preventive maintenance plan—staying on schedule is how small services today prevent big repair bills tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions About Oil Changes

How long does an oil change take?

Most oil changes take about 30 to 45 minutes. If our multi-point inspection turns up something worth a closer look, we’ll always talk it over with you before doing any additional work.

Do I need synthetic oil?

It depends on your vehicle. Many newer, turbocharged, and high-performance engines require full synthetic, while some older engines run fine on conventional or a synthetic blend. We check your manufacturer’s specifications and recommend the right oil—never an unnecessary upsell.

How do I know when my car needs an oil change?

Watch for your oil-life or check-engine light, dark and gritty oil on the dipstick, a ticking or knocking engine, or simply hitting your mileage interval. When in doubt, bring it in and we’ll check it for free.

Do you use the correct oil for my specific vehicle?

Always. We match the exact viscosity and specification your manufacturer calls for, which protects both your engine and any active powertrain warranty.

Can I just walk in, or do I need an appointment?

Both work. We welcome walk-ins, but booking online guarantees the fastest turnaround. Schedule your oil change here in under a minute.

I came from NY to pick up a truck I purchased from a private seller. The transmission blew 30 miles into our trip home. I googled some transmission shops around the area and found advanced transmissions. It was almost closing time for them, but one of the guys said he would stick around until the tow truck could delivery the truck. When I arrived he went over all of the options and advised me on the best way to proceed. I then went back to NY and waited for the truck to get fixed. They kept me updated with the progress and when it was finished we worked out a plan to pick it up on a Saturday. The truck drove home perfectly 750 miles. They also check all my fluids and looked it over for my trip. I'm very grateful I came across this shop in such a time of debacle. Thanks so much!

I recently took my SUV to Advance Transmissions based on a diagnostics from Firestone that lead me to believe a catastrophic issue with my transmission. The transmission was a rebuild and was only a few years old, so still under warranty. After calling around to a few shops, some would honor the warranty while some would not, I ended up taking it to Advance Transmissions based on the fact that they would service it under warranty and were the most responsive. I'm really glad I did. I can't say things would have been worse at other shops, but I could totally see being taken advantage of elsewhere. The issue stemmed from a single missing o-ring. They had it assessed, replaced, tested, and ready in a day or two. And since it was such a simple fix, they made it free of charge. It was originally looking like it would be a lot of labor expense even if the part was under warranty. But instead, they were honest, courteous, and respected me as a customer. I'll definitely be taking any future business here.
