Does Servicing At An Independent Shop Void My Warranty?
No—and it’s worth knowing why, because a lot of drivers are told otherwise. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, you don’t have to use a dealer for routine maintenance or repairs to keep your factory warranty in effect. According to the Federal Trade Commission, it’s illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed somewhere else.
There is one sensible exception: if the warranty states that specific work will be performed free of charge, the manufacturer can require you to use facilities it chooses. And a repair can still be denied if faulty work or a defective part actually caused the damage—but the manufacturer has to demonstrate that, not just assume it.
Our advice: keep your receipts. We provide documentation for every service, so you have a clean maintenance record if a warranty question ever comes up. You get dealership-level service without dealership prices, and your coverage stays exactly where it should be.
How Often Should You Service Your Vehicle?
Maintenance intervals vary by make, model, year, and how you actually drive—and your owner’s manual is always the final authority. As a general rhythm, most drivers do well with an oil change and inspection every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, fluid and filter checks at each visit, brake and tire inspections at least twice a year, and a closer look at belts, hoses, and the battery once a vehicle passes the three-year mark.
Hard use shortens every one of those intervals. Frequent short trips, stop-and-go traffic, towing, and Missouri’s temperature swings all ask more of your vehicle. Tell us how you drive and we’ll build a schedule that fits your reality rather than a generic chart.

Frequently Asked Questions About Preventive Maintenance
Will servicing my car here void my factory warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it’s illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage just because routine maintenance or repairs were performed somewhere else. The exception is work the warranty covers free of charge, which the manufacturer can require you to have done at facilities it chooses. We document every service so your maintenance record stays clean.
How often should I have my vehicle serviced?
Your owner’s manual is the final word, since intervals vary by make, model, and year. As a general rhythm, most drivers do well with an oil change and inspection every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, with brake and tire checks at least twice a year. Short trips, towing, and heat all shorten those intervals.
What does a tune up actually include these days?
Modern engines don’t need the old-fashioned tune ups they once did, but they still need attention: spark plugs, filters, fluids, belts, hoses, and a scan for any stored trouble codes. We check what your specific vehicle calls for rather than selling a one-size-fits-all package.
Is preventive maintenance really worth the money?
Consistently, yes. Scheduled service costs a fraction of the repairs it prevents, and it protects your warranty and resale value along the way. The math is rarely close—a fluid change is cheaper than the component the fluid was protecting.
Do you follow my manufacturer’s recommended schedule?
We do, and we’ll adjust it for how you actually drive. Bring your owner’s manual or just tell us your vehicle and mileage and we’ll map out what’s due now and what’s coming. Book your maintenance service here.
